AR conducts wreath laying ceremony

Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), observed a solemn wreathlaying ceremony to honour the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty during an ambush on the Chassad-Imphal Road, Manipur, on August 17, 1994 .
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the tribute was paid to Rifleman (Late) Ananta Sharma, Rifleman (Late) Ram Surat Pal, Rifleman (Late) Santosh Kumar, and Rifleman (Late) Shaitya Ram Rabha, who made the supreme sacrifice while safeguarding the nation.
On that fateful day, a patrol party of Assam Rifles was conducting a search operation along the Chassad-Imphal Road when it came under heavy fire from insurgents in a premeditated ambush.
In the ensuing firefight, four brave soldiers sustained fatal injuries, displaying exceptional courage and devotion to duty in the face of grave danger.
To honour the fallen heroes, the ceremony began with a solemn wreath-laying by senior officials, setting a tone of reverence and reflection.
The gathering paid heartfelt homage to the courage and sacrifice of the bravehearts, whose unwavering commitment to duty continues to inspire generations.
Their legacy was remembered with deep respect, reinforcing the enduring spirit of service and valour that defines Assam Rifles.
The event not only honoured the legacy of the bravehearts but also instilled a renewed sense of purpose and pride among the ranks, reinforcing Assam Rifles' role as the steadfast "Sentinels of the North East" .
