One more Meetei house set ablaze in Jiri

Jiribam, July 13 2024:
Despite the precautionary measures taken up by security personnel in Jiribam, Kuki militants set a house belonging to a Meetei in Leingangpokpi on fire on Saturday.
Kuki militants burnt down the house of Nongmaithem Sadananda, who is also the president of All Jiribam Road Transport Driver Union, at around 6 pm.
The ill-fated house is located near NH 37 but not far from Phaitol Kuki village of Tamenglong district.
200 meters away from the burnt house, Assam Rifles and Tamenglong police are also being deployed for the protection of Phaitol Kuki village.
Moreover, the location is very close to the police naka point that was recently attacked by Kuki militants using bombs and bullets.
CRPF personnel are presently deployed at the naka point.
Denouncing the burning of his house, N Sadananda said that security forces are being deployed very near to his house on two sides.
It is surprising that his house was set ablaze in the evening when there was still light, he added.
Meanwhile, after the house burning incident, Mongbung Meetei Khul faced heavy attack of bombs and guns fired from the side of Jiribam Mongbung and Seijang Kuki village at around 7:30 pm.
However, there is no report of any casualty and injury.
Additional state and central forces have been sent into the area.
