Imphal, June 13 2009: Several organizations expressed their condolence and deep condemnations over the trend of killing migrant workers by some unidentified armed miscreants in the state in separate press releases.

The All Manipur NGOs Forum stating that a society needs survive by extending help to one another expressed deep condolence over the threatening, terrorizing and killing of migrant workers by armed miscreants in the state in a press release issued by the Secretary Administration of the Forum, RK Nongdrenkhomba.

The forum stated that it is a big challenge to human rights and appealed to all related authorities including the state government, militant groups and all unidentified armed miscreants to abandon such act of terrorism and murder to arrive into an amicable solution.

The Workers' Union Manipur (WUM) expressing deep condolence over the killing of migrant workers shared the grievance of the families of the victims and appealed to all related groups not to undertake such merciless actions in future.The union also urged the government to keep special regard for the poor daily bread earners by protecting and treating them well in a press release issued by the union's General Secretary, L Joy Khuman.

A memorandum of the All Manipur Construction Workers' Union (AMCWU) signed by its General Secretary, Kshetrimayum Santa which was submitted to the Chief Minister of the state today drew the attention of the state government towards the regular killing of non local migrant workers in the state by some unidentified armed miscreants nowadays and put up certain demands to institute a judicial enquiry on the killings, book the culprits as soon as possible, protect migrant workers by providing armed security guards at construction sites, pay a compensation of Rupees 5, 00, 000 to the families of the deceased workers and alert the central government to protect the Manipuris working and studying in other parts of the country.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has also expressed deep condolence over the killing in a meeting held today at Irawat Bhavan while a separate press release of the Manipur People's Party issued by its General Secretary (Publicity) S Umananda expressed serious concern over the trend of killing innocent migrant workers in the state and appealed to the state government to take up appropriate measure to protect them from such threats and killings.
