AIMS launches tree plantation drive

Imphal, May 10 2026: The Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup has officially kicked off a week-long tree plantation campaign today to commemorate its 14th Foundation Day.

The inaugural event was held at Wakha Nungbungpung Mapugi Thenlol Leimaching.

Speaking at the event AIMS president L Thonglen Meetei said that the organisation plans to extend this initiative to various schools and colleges across the region in the coming days.

Thonglen emphasized that the primary goal is not just to plant saplings but to ensure their survival.

"Planting trees is useless if they do not grow to maturity", said Thonglen, urging local clubs & educational institutions to take ownership of the saplings planted in their areas.

The initiative is designed to instill a habit of environmental conservation and ensure a greener environment for the youth of tomorrow.

The programme concluded with a call to action for all stakeholders to cooperate in maintaining the newly planted trees to ensure the drive's longterm success.
