Waikhom Mani Girls' College marks 46th foundation day

Thoubal, February 09 2026: Waikhom Mani Girls' College, the only girls' college in Thoubal district, celebrated its 46th foundation day today at the College Seminar Hall.

As part of the celebration, Meritorious Gold Medal Awards and Incentive Awards were presented to deserving students and teachers in recognition of academic excellence and dedicated service.

The programme was attended by Committee for Implementation of NEP 2020, Manipur University, chairman and Dean of Human & Environmental Sciences, Professor Soibam Jibonkuma Singh as chief guest; Waikhom Mani Girls' College principal Professor Hanjabam Manoranjan Sharma as functional president; and Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Governing Body former president Waikhom Ranjit Singh; as guest of honour.

During the observance, students and teachers paid floral tributes to the statues and photographs of the founding members of the college.

The event also honoured Swaty Laishram, commanding officer of the NCC contingent who participated in the march past during the 77th Republic Day celebration held in New Delhi, and another student who won medal at the National Thang-Ta Championship held last year.

In addition, incentive cash awards were also presented to 19 faculty members for publishing research papers and books, highlighting the institution's commitment to academic growth and research excellence.
