KVK Imphal West holds Sarpanch Sammelan

Imphal, January 07 2026: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal West has successfully organised a Special District Abhiyan cum Sarpanch Sammelan under the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025.As per a release issued by KVK Imphal West, the programme was conducted with the objective of strengthening grassroots participation and accelerating rural development initiatives in the district.

The programme was graced by dignitaries, including Laishram Boby Devi, Chairperson, Zilla Parishad, Imphal West; Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Head, Regional Centre, ICAR Manipur Centre; and Dr L Kanta Singh, Senior Scientist-cum-Head, KVK Imphal West.

Apart from the scientists from KVK Imphal West, the Sammelan witnessed active participation from five Zilla Parishad Members, twenty Pradhans, and four farmers' leaders, reflecting strong convergence among Panchayati Raj Institutions, farmers' representatives, and technical institutions.

During the programme, detailed deliberations were held on- Effective utilization of Viksit Bharat G-RAM-G working days to ensure enhanced employment generation and sustainable rural livelihoods; Collaborative planning with ICAR and KVK Imphal West for need-based, location-specific agricultural and allied sector interventions; Setting up of a Model Village in Imphal West district as a demonstration hub for integrated rural development under the Viksit Bharat framework; and Provision of technical support from ICAR and KVK Imphal West, including capacity building, technology dissemination, and handholding support to farmers and Panchayats.

At the event, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of convergence, community participation, and scientific interventions for achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat.
