Imphal, January 04 2026:
The Joint Tribes Council (JTC) has denounced the reprehensible and unlawful act of intimidation perpetrated against Dr Linda of Ragailong village, Imphal, a medical professional serving at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) .
In a release, the JTC said that the act of leaving a packet containing live ammunition accompanied by a threat letter is a grave criminal offense and a direct assault on the safety, dignity, and peace of an innocent doctor and her family.
"Such actions strike at the core of civil society, erode public trust, and endanger the lives of those who serve humanity with commitment and compassion", it added.
The JTC called upon the Government of Manipur and all concerned law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action by thoroughly investigating the incident, identifying the perpetrators, and ensuring that they are brought to justice under the law.
The JTC also demanded that adequate security measures must be put in place without delay to safeguard Dr Linda and her family.
Extending its solidarity with Dr Linda, the JTC appeals to the public to remain calm, uphold the values of humanity and justice, and refrain from acts that disturb peace and harmony.
"Personal grief, however profound, can never justify criminal conduct.
Any lapse or inaction in addressing this serious matter will be viewed with utmost concern by the Council", the JTC concluded.
