Yai Welfare Fund established for ageing, ailing artists

Imphal, March 31 2026: Yai School of Artistes, Brahmapur has set up Yai Welfare Fund (YWF) to provide benefits to artists beyond 60 years of age in Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Khwairakpam Bishwamitra, Director, Yai School of Artistes and secretary of the governing body of Yai School Artistes Welfare Fund said that the Yai School of Artistes is registered with Manipur Government's Department of Cooperation.

The registration memorandum also mentions the establishment of the Yai School Artistes Welfare Fund.

Consequently, it has started operations while being shortened as "Yai Welfare Fund".

In the first phase, a registration drive under YWF will begin from April 15 for artists above 60 years of age and those who are no longer able to perform due to illnesses, he said.

The registered artists will receive benefits under YWF .
