One remanded for sending obscene pictures

Imphal, May 30 2019:
Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West, yesterday, rejected the bail application filed by a 25 year old youth and instead remanded him to judicial custody, for sending obscene photos to a married women through social media.
Yesterday, the accused identified as Thounaojam Rakesh (25) s/o Ramananda of Khongjom Chingtham, was produced before the Court along with a prayer for remanding him to judicial custody.
The IO of the case submitted that the victim of the case had lodged a complaint to Imphal PS stating that one unknown person with a fake Facebook account which used her photo, was sending her obscene photos and demanding her to send him photos of her private parts.
After investigation, the individual was identified as one Thounaojam Rakesh and he was arrested in the morning of May 22.During examination, the accused admitted to the charges levelled against him but he was still hiding his mobile phone used in the commission of the crime and as such he was remanded in police custody till yesterday.
The IO further submitted that it was also revealed that the accused had another case/allegation of a similar nature at Thoubal PS as well.
On thorough interrogation, he finally revealed that he had sold his mobile phone to one of his friends.
The IO then submitted that if the accused person is given bail, he will surely manipulate or destroy any evidence leaving the investigation agent with no clue.
The Court, after going through the case record and hearing both sides, rejected the bail application filed by the accused and instead remanded him in judicial custody till June 12 .
