Senapati Excise Dept destroys over 4,000 litres of illicit liquor

Senapati, October 30 2025:
The Excise Department of Senapati district destroyed more than 4,000 litres of DIC-Sekmai liquor at its office compound in Taphou Liangmei on Thursday.
According to a press release issued by the department, the destruction was carried out in connection with the confiscation of various excise articles, including illicit country liquor (DIC), under the provisions of the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991 .
The seized items were collected through coordinated efforts between the Excise Station, Senapati, and the Senapati Police Department, under the supervision of the Commissioner of Excise, Govt of Manipur.
Approximately 4,110 litres of country liquor, valued at Rs 4.11 lakh in the local market, were confiscated and destroyed under Section 69 of MLP Act, 1991 at Senapati Excise Station, in the presence of Excise officials, police personnel, media representatives, and members of the public.
