Kamjong holds Panch Sammelan to promote grassroots governance under VB-GRAM G Act

Kamjong, July 30 2026:
The District Administration, Kamjong, organised a Panch Sammelan at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Kamjong District Headquarters, today to highlight the vision of grassroots governance under the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-GRAM G)Act, 2025.The programme was organised by the District Programme Coordinator, VB-GRAM G, Kamjong District.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner LN Kashung highlighted the objectives and enhanced provisions of the VB-GRAM G Act, which came into force on July 1, 2026.He said the Act has increased the guaranteed employment under the rural employment scheme from 100 to 125 days, with the wage rate fixed at Rs 300 per day.
Kashung stressed the need to strengthen the economic condition of the region, which, he said, would contribute to improving education and developing the skills of the people.
He also urged the participants to make full use of the various provisions and benefits available under the Act.
Additional Deputy Commissioner HL Jain explained the key features of the VB-GRAM G Act and highlighted the significance of a planned approach supported by technology.
He stressed on the scheme which focused on key areas including water security, rural development infrastructure, livelihood generation, disaster mitigation and climate resilience.
Sub-Divisional Officers Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang, A Rohini Kumar and Subinson Sapam.
Project Officer, RD & PR, Kamjong Ningshimi Awungshi, District Level Officers, village heads and residents of the district, among others, attended the programme.
