Meiteis in Tripura, B'desh celebrate Kang

Thoubal, June 28 2025: As done in previous years, Meitei adherents of Gaudiya Vaishnavism celebrated Kang festival in Meitei villages of Tripura.

Devotees thronged to take part in Shree Shree Radhamadhab Mandir's Jagannath Rath Yatra celebration at Radhanagar.

Kang festival will be celebrated at Madan Mohan in Naran Khamar for nine days.

The ritual pulling of the Jagannath chariot, which is the highlight of the Kang festival, was also witnessed at Auli, Dhaleswar, Chandrapur, Borjola, Kalyanpur, Goumagar, Jambura, Jolabasa, Dharmanagar, Dhalai, Golaghati, Lalsingmura, Dhacabari and Baidyardighi belonging to different jilas among others.

The festival was also celebrated by Meiteis in Bangladesh who gathered at Siphai Keithel to engage in traditional festivities.
