Herbert School hosts 'AI in Education' workshop for teachers

A 1-day workshop on "AI and its application in Education" was successfully held today at the Herbert School in Imphal.
The programme, designed for the school's teachers, featured two technical sessions aimed at empowering educators with knowledge of artificial intelligence tools and their pedagogical uses.
The workshop commenced with a welcome address by the Academic Coordinator, who outlined the training programme's objectives.
The first technical session was led by Dr Kishorjit Nongmeikapam, Registrar of IIIT, Manipur, and former Head of the Computer Science & Engineering Department.
Dr Kishorjit explained the mechanics of AI, its broad applications, and its specific impact on teaching and learning processes.
He also touched upon emerging technologies like cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), and their potential to transform daily life and the future education system.
The second session featured Dr Usham Sanjuta, Assistant Professor at NIELIT, Imphal.
Her focus was on empowering teachers by sharing knowledge on various AI tools for creating lesson plans, content, and assessments to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Dr Sanjuta also addressed the ethical uses and challenges associated with AI .
Teachers actively participated in both sessions, learning how to integrate various AI tools into their teaching and material preparation.
The training concluded with a vote of thanks from the Vice Principal, expressing gratitude to the resource persons and the participating teachers for a productive session.
