Ukhrul bids farewell to outgoing DC Ashish Das

Ukhrul, May 27 2026:
The people of Ukhrul district on Wednesday accorded a warm and emotional farewell to outgoing Deputy Commissioner Ashish Das during a programme held at the DRDA Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
The farewell function was attended by heads of various departments, officials and members of the public, who expressed appreciation for the outgoing DC's efficient administration and developmental initiatives undertaken during his tenure in the district.
Speakers at the programme lauded Ashish Das for his decisive leadership, administrative agility and commitment towards accelerating developmental works in Ukhrul district.
They also highlighted his systematic approach in handling social issues and bridging misunderstandings among different sections of society, which enabled several matters to be resolved amicably.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) Polly Makan, while speaking at the programme, elaborated on several developmental milestones achieved under the leadership of Ashish Das.
Polly noted that the outgoing DC had introduced the ambitious "Unlocking Ukhrul" initiative aimed at improving inter-village connectivity through MGNREGA projects.
Polly stated that Ashish Das was the first Deputy Commissioner in the district to facilitate arbitration relating to National Highway-202, which helped expedite the highway construction process.
Under his leadership, the Shirui Heritage project was also brought into reality and is currently progressing steadily.
In his farewell speech, Ashish Das expressed heartfelt gratitude to his subordinate staff, the general public and civil society organisations for their unwavering support during his tenure in Ukhrul.
He said the affection shown by the people during the farewell programme and the presentation of gifts would remain one of the greatest honours and privileges of his career.
Reflecting on his tenure, Ashish Das stated that despite challenges and pressure from different quarters, the support and cooperation extended by the people of Ukhrul helped him work effectively in the interest of the citizens.
Concluding his speech, the outgoing DC said that he would always remember Ukhrul as his family and cherish the memories throughout his life.
