Free cataract screening and surgery drive announced for elderly in Senapati

Senapati, March 25 2026:
In a significant initiative aimed at improving eye health among the elderly, the District Administration of Senapati has announced a special cataract screening and surgery drive under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY).
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare and the District Health Society, aims to address vision impairment among elderly citizens by providing free cataract screening and surgical interventions.
Targeting individuals aged 50 years and above the programme - the "Special Drive for Cataract Screening & Surgical Camps" - seeks to ensure better eye health and promote independence among senior citizens.
The screening drive will be conducted at Wilong Sub-Health Centre on March 30, SubDistrict Hospital, Mao on March 31, Paomata Primary Health-Centre on April 6, Phaibung Primary Health Centre on April 7, and Oinam Hill Primary Health Centre on April 8.The Deputy Commissioner of Senapati has urged all eligible senior citizens and their families to avail the benefits of the initiative.
