TSA-GHQ serves ultimatum to Home Dept

The Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has served an ultimatum to the Home Department, Manipur, regarding the failure of the authority concerned to bring justice over the Sugnu double murder case of May 5, 2017 .
A press release issued by the secretary general of TSA stated that Nengkhokim Haokip alias Cecilia alias Shila (21 yrs) was gang raped and brutally murdered and her body was found at Muoltinchan village road junction near Sugnu .
One Kaikholen Tuboi was also found murdered in a different spot, about one kilometre distance from the spot Cecilia was found, it added .
Even after seven months, the culprits involved in the incident have not been booked .
"If the Government is really serious about such heinous crime and is dedicated to fulfilling the MoU inked with the JAC on May 6, then the culprits would have been arrested a long time back and justice would have been delivered", the association asserted .
In connection with the incident, a team of TSA met with the SP, Kakching on December 12 in the presence of SDPO, Kakching and Sugnu, it stated while adding that TSA had issued a press release urging the authority concerned to take necessary actions for speedy justice but no satisfactory actions have been taken up till date .
It stated that TSA would be compelled to launch intense agitation in the State if there is no tangible progress in bringing justice for the deceased persons within January 10, 2018 .
