Labourers urge for payment

Imphal, December 22 2017:
Labourers of Dolaithabi Canal Project have appealed to the authority concerned to provide their pending salaries fro the construction of the canal from Dolaithabi to Uyumpok .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, one of the labourer, Longjam Mangalsana said that the labourers constructed the 6.84 kilometres long canal from Dolaithabi to Uyumpok in between January 25, 2016 to June 4, the same year under one contractor Khailun Baite .
However, during the finishing stage the work was handed over to another contractor, he said and added that the labourers vehemently condemn the transfer of the work from one contractor to another before the pending salaries of the labourers are paid off.
Appealing the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest, he said that the labourers will take up various forms of agitation if the State Government fail to provide any positive response.
