Imphal, May 22 2026: The 6th World Bee Day was observed at the Directorate Conference Hall, Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur under the theme, "Bee Together for People and the Planet - A Partnership that Sustains Us All".

The programme, organised by the Manipur Bee Honey Mission (MBHM), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur, highlighted the vital role of bees and other pollinators in ensuring food security, biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability.

World Bee Day observed

The programme also aimed at creating awareness among farmers and stakeholders on the importance of beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood activity.

The event was attended by key officials of the Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, Manipur, including Director K Debadutta Sharma; Additional Director Yeite Khupsorel Koireng; Joint Director P Pramo Devi; Executive Engineer Rapei Ruth Paotei; and Chingong Pamei, Mission Director, MIDH/MBHM .

Dignitaries emphasised the importance of collective efforts in protecting pollinators and promoting sustainable agricultural practices for the benefit of people and the environment.

Progressive bee farmers from different parts of the State also attended and shared their views on the development & promotion of beekeeping activities in Manipur.
