Thoubal, January 22 2026:
Strongly condemning the brutal killing of Mayanglambam Rishikanta of Kakching Khunou by armed Kuki militants, Kakching District United Club Organisation (KADUCO) and KHUKAMPAL-II, Kakching district, jointly organised a sit-in protest at Lamjao in Kakching district on Thursday.
Speaking at the protest, general secretary of KHUKAMPAL-II, Kakching district, RK Laxmi stated that despite repeated claims by the Government of India that peace and normalcy have been restored in Manipur, the ground situation tells a different story.
She alleged that even with the deployment of more than 40,000 security personnel across the State, armed Kuki militants continue to move freely in the hill areas and incidents of killing civilians persist.
Terming the killing as deeply disturbing, she urged the Government of India to take concrete and effective measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
RK Laxmi further appealed to the authorities to work out an amicable and lasting solution to bring an end to the ongoing ethnic violence in the State.
