District-level painting, essay writing competition held

Thoubal, September 20 2026: In line with the 72nd Wildlife Week Celebration, a district-level painting and essay writing competition was held at YK College, Wangjing.

The painting and essay writing competition was organised by the Thoubal Forest Division.

The event witnessed participation from around 170 students belonging to 16 different schools across Kakching and Thoubal districts.

The painting competition and essay writing competition were held in two categories each.

For the painting competition, it was held under Category I (Class V to VIII) on the theme 'Animals in their Natural Habitat', and Category II (Class IX to XII) on the theme 'The Return of Green: Thriving Wildlife'.

Meanwhile the essay writing competition was held on the theme "Conservation of Wildlife is Everyone's Duty" for Category I (Class V to VIII) and "Connecting Habitat: A path to Wildlife Conservation" for Category II (Class IX to XII) .

The competition programme was attended by Vikram Suresh Nadhe, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Thoubal Forest Division along with Range Forest Officers representing Kakching Range, Thoubal Range and District Headquarters.

Addressing the gathering, DFO Vikram Suresh Nadhe highlighted the vital role that students and local communities play in conservation efforts of wildlife.

The organizers also announced that the topperforming winners from the competitions will be nominated to represent the districts at the upcoming State level Wildlife Week competition.
