'Sunita' wins Best Manipuri Film at 72nd National Film Awards

Imphal, July 18 2026: The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards for the year 2024 were announced today, recognizing the best achievements in Indian cinema across feature films, non-feature films and writings on cinema.

Manipuri feature film 'Sunita' won the Best Manipuri Film award.

Directed by Yumnam Ajit Singh, the film was produced by Skyline Pictures, Khuman Lampak Pictures, HM Production, and Cultural Society Khuman Maheikol Production.

The awards were announced by Jayaraj, Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury; Aseem Sinha, Chairperson of the NonFeature Film Jury; and A Chandrasekhar, Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury.

They were joined by Dr Ajay Nagabhushan MN, Joint Secretary (Films), and Dhirendra Ojha, Principal Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB) .

Manipur filmmaker James Khangenbam also served as a jury member in the Non-Feature Film category.
