One-day sensitisation programme on HIV/AIDS held at Chandel

A one-day sensitization programme on HIV/AIDS for Self Help Group (SHG) members in the high prevalent district was held on Saturday at Unopat village community hall in Chandel district.
The programme was organised by Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Missions (MSRLM), Chandel in collaboration with Manipur State AIDS control Society (MACS).
Altogether, around 136 SHG members, 30 elders and 12 youths participated in the awareness programme.
The event also provided an opportunity for people to undergo on-the-spot HIV testing through a mobile testing team led by Rangnshai Jaihra, Lab Technician of MICTC Chandel.
Speaking as a resource person, Holina Huten of DISHA Chandel, highlighted the origin of HIV/AIDS, modes of transmission, preventive measures, the importance of early detection , treatment facilities and the need to remove stigma associated with the disease.
The program also featured an interactive question-and-answer session and discussions with participants.
Various IEC materials and placards were displayed under the guidance of Virginia Wanglar, Counsellor of MICTC Chandel.
Virginia Wanglar also informed the gathering about the availability of counselling, testing and ART Centre facilities in the district.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ruwndar Eveijoy, District in-charge of MSRLM Chandel.
