4 students hurt

Imphal, October 14 2025:
At least four students of N Tomchou Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal sustained injuries in a confrontation with police over the transfer of the school's Principal.
Protesting the transfer of the school, students of the school launched an agitation from yesterday.
The students carried on the agitation and they burnt tyres, benches and desks on Mayai Lambi this morning.
On learning about the protest, a team of Mayang Imphal police station came to the spot and tried to control the situation.
As the police team tried to send back the students inside their school campus, a tense stand-off erupted.
After a brief altercation between the two sides, some students started pelting stones toward the police team who retaliated by firing tear gas shells.
Four male students sustained injuries in the scuffle and they were taken to Mayang Imphal PHC.
One of them was later referred to RIMS Hospital.
Urging the authorities concerned to keep the Principal at their school, the students said that they would boycott classes if the Principal is not sent back.
Wangoi ZEO Arambam Anilkumar also came to the spot and held a joint meeting with the school's Vice-Principal, teachers, local clubs and students, and discussed on avoiding similar unrest in the future.
