Blood donation camp held at Thoubal to mark 86th Nupi Lan observance

Thoubal, December 12 2025: A one-day blood donation camp cum awareness programme was organised today at District Hospital Thoubal in connection with the 86th observance of Nupi Lan.

The blood donation camp was organised jointly by the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Thoubal, and Blood Centre and Transfusion Unit of District Hospital Thoubal, with support from the State Blood Transfusion Council Manipur (SBTC), Khangabok Joint Coordinating Committee, Lions Club of Thoubal Greater Centurion, Anouba Yenning, Nungsinashi and Yaipha Thourang Village Level Federations (VLFs), Khangabok.

Speaking at the event, CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul lauded the organisers for taking up such an important initiative and expressed gratitude to all voluntary donors for their noble act.

As part of the event, he distributed shirts bearing the AVBD logo, along with certificates and calendars produced by the organisation.

The shirts were donated by Dr Kh Romenkumar Khuman, principal, KM Blooming Hr Sec School.

Dr Kh Romenkumar appreciated AVBD Thoubal for consistently organising such humanitarian activities and urged the public to extend support to similar initiatives in future.

AVBD Thoubal, district secretary Nabakumar stated that the camp was conducted to commemorate Nupi Lan and honour the brave Manipuri women who stood bravely against British colonial forces from forced exportation of food grains.

He further noted that AVBD Thoubal has been regularly conducting blood donation drives every year, and hopes to continue the initiative even in the future.

During the camp, a total of 30 individuals donated their blood.

The event was also attended by AVBD Manipur, Thoubal district branch, president Leishangthem Sanatombi Devi;and Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion, president Yengkhom Guneshwori Devi.
