World Suicide Prevention Day observed

Thoubal, September 11 2026: World Suicide Prevention Day was observed at Lamding Higher Secondary School today organised by the District Mental Health Programme, Thoubal.

The observation was graced by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Thoubal, Dr Krishnachandra Luwang as the chief guest; Lamding Higher Secondary School Principal in-charge K Bimolini Devi as the president; Medical Superintendent District Hospital Thoubal, Dr Kh Robindro Singh and DNO, District Mental Health Programme Thoubal Dr H Jina attended as the guests of honour.

A press release by the Programme Co-ordinator, District Mental Health Programme Thoubal said that Dr Krishnachandra Luwang took pledge for suicide prevention in today's observation wherein students of Class X, XI and XII participated.

As a part of the programme, students were divided in to three groups and group interaction programme on the topics of risk factor of suicide, sign and symptoms and prevention was held.

Later Dr Kh Robindro Singh and Dr H Jina provided detailed lectures on risk factor of suicide, sign and symptoms and suicide prevention, said the press release.
