Proposed NH-102 road closure in Lilong called off

The proposed indefinite closure of National Highway-102 from Lilong Bazar to Ushoipokpi, called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against Non Supply of Drinking Water in Lilong, has been called off following a mutual resolution reached with government authorities.
The decision to suspend the road closure was taken after a meeting between representatives of the JAC and officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and the district police.
The meeting was chaired by Thoubal Deputy Commissioner Yumnam Robita and attended by the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, SDPO Thoubal, and the Officer-in-Charge of Lilong PS.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, JAC convenor Aziz Lamin Nongjai said the proposed road blockage was withdrawn after both sides reached a mutual understanding during discussions with officials of NHIDCL and other government authorities.
According to Nongjai, the agreements reached during the meeting include restoring water supply to areas on both sides of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Lilong Leihaokhong, Yangbi Leikai and Lilong Bazar by March 20.In addition, water supply to areas under the jurisdiction of Lilong Chaobok Arapti Water Supply is expected to be provided by April 30 .
In view of these assurances, the JAC decided to temporarily call off the proposed road closure which was scheduled to begin from the evening of March 11, Nongjai added.
