Two hog deer rescued

Imphal, May 05 2026:
Two hog deer rescued by the people of Uchiwa were safely handed over to a combined team of the Unique Wildlife Protection Committee Manipur, Forest Department and Manipur Police.
According to a press release, the two deer entered a residential area in Hayel Thongranbi, Imphal West this morning around 6 am.
Here, Thoudam Boinao (32) and Sagolshem Dinesh (45) managed to rescue one of the deer.
The other hog deer fled and crossed the Imphal River.
It was later rescued by Pole Star Club president Md Muphijuddin with the help of locals of Uchiwa Santhel Mamang Leikai.
Upon receiving information, the Committee immediately rushed to the spot and provided first aid to the animals.
The volunteers informed the staff of Mayang Imphal Forest Beat Office, Kakching Range Forest and Keibul Lamjao National Park, who arrived shortly.
A Hiyang police team also rushed to the site.
Later the two hog deer were safely released at a suitable location within the Keibul Lamjao National Park.
