Manipur University releases book on empowerment and inclusive development

Manipur University released an edited volume titled "Beyond Boundaries: Empowerment, Identity and Development" at a function organised by the Centre for Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI) at VC Secretariat Committee Room on Friday.
Vice-Chancellor in-charge Prof RK Hemakumar Singh, Dean of School of Social Sciences Prof Memcha Loitongbam and CSSI Director Prof H Sudhirkumar Singh attended the book release function as the presidium members.
The book, edited by Dr Thiyam Bharat Singh, Associate Professor CSSI, Prof Damodar Nepram, Head Department of Economics and Dr Yaiphaba Ningthoujam, Assistant Professor CSSI, and published by Sunmarg Publishers, New Delhi, contains 11 chapters on education, environment, poverty, women empowerment, livelihood and socio-economic conditions of backward classes.
Dr Bharat Singh said the volume adopts an intersectional approach to understand how gender, poverty and identity overlap.
Prof Konthoujam Gyanendra Singh said the volume emerged from the National Seminar on Viksit Bharat and Inclusive Development held in April 2024 jointly by CSSI and OKD Institute, Guwahati, and could benefit researchers and policymakers towards Viksit Bharat 2047, Prof Hemakumar congratulated editors and contributors, calling it an important academic contribution.
Prof Memcha urged scholars to read critically and initiate further research, while Prof Sudhirkumar invited constructive observations for future publications.
