16th Manipur Integrity Day:: State scholars exhorted to take part in public agitations

Imphal, August 04 2013: "To counter the move by renowned scholars of India to disintegrate Manipur, it is high time for the Manipuri scholars to take part in the various agitations launched by the public," Dr Y Mani Khuman, President of AMUCO, has exhorted.

Speaking on the occasion of observing the 16th Manipur Integrity Day at MDU hall here today, Dr Y Mani Khuman further stated that it would be very difficult for the volunteers and active workers of CSOs alone to counter the forceful move by the renowned scholars of India to disintegrate Manipur.

So, the scholars of Manipur, who are in no way lagging behind their counterparts in other part of India in any field should come forward and take leading in the public agitations so that others could follow and save the State from further destruction.

The 16th Manipur Integrity Day was observed in commemoration of the mass public rally taken out under the aegis of AMUCO at Imphal on this day in 1997 to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Dr Y Mani Khuman went on to point out that the situation in Manipur has become so tense today that the time has come for each and every individual to come together for saving Manipur.

"Since the concerned authorities are remaining silent over the 'faulty' boundary fencing issue along Indo-Myanmar International boundary, we, the people, should come together and save the large portion of Manipur's land which would be lost to Myanmar", he further exhorted.

Thounaojam Iboyaima, President of Irabot Foundation, Manipur, who was also present as one of the presidium members of the observance, maintained that all the issues prevailing in the State of Manipur today are 'India made' and they target to one mission, that is, disintegration of Manipur.

So, instead of fault finding among ourselves, we all should come together as one to counter the move.

Dr Rose Mangshi, President of Kuki Mother's Association, also noted that the present faulty border fencing along Indo-Myanmar boundary from which Manipur would lost large portion of its land to Myanmar, needs to be looked into very seriously.

Once the border fencing is completed, it would not be able to alter it again, she added.

The observance function was also attended by Kakomlunglu Kamei, President of Kabui Mother's Association; Khariuddin Shah, President of All Manipur Muslim Organisation Co-Ordination Committee; M Memchoubi, President of Poirei Leimarol; Kunjarani, President of AMWOVA; Areng Chiru, President of Chiru Tribal Union and K Joychandra, former member of AMUCO as presidium members.
