Prem Dhara launches summer water aid in Imphal West

Imphal, May 04 2026:
Heirok-based charitable trust Prem Dhara today distributed water jars, dispensers and steel glasses to five Meira Sang in Imphal West, setting up free drinking waterpoints for the summer.
The Trust handed the items to meira paibis at Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai, Haobam Marak Solar Union Club, Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai, Heirangoithong and Konjeng Langpoklakpam Leikai.
Bandana Laimayum, a trustee of Prem Dhara, said that free drinking water will remain available at these centers throughout the peak summer months, from May until September.
Registered in January 2024, Prem Dhara has quickly become a pillar of support for vulnerable groups.
Their activities include skill development programmes aimed at farmers and economically disadvantaged communities.
On April 4, it marked its third foundation day by enrolling 25 elderly women under the "Nungshi Pension Scheme" for Rs 100 monthly aid.
Bandana said the water initiative supports elderly, women facing economic hardship during peak summer.
The Trust was established in memory of late Khundrakpam Nungshi Devi by her family and well-wishers.
It runs independently on contributions from trustees and supporters, with no Government link.
Citing challenges in Manipur and the Northeast, Bandana stressed collective work for a better future and ensuring students study at least till Class 10 .
She sought public cooperation for such efforts to build a stronger Manipur.
