Panel formed to probe drone attack

In response to the unprecedented drone attack in Koutruk village on Sunday by Kuki militants using high-tech drones, state police department has formed a high-level committee to investigate the incident.
The newly formed committee is tasked with critically examining the drones used in the attack, gathering all relevant evidence, and analysing the specifications of the drones.
The committee will also focus on framing strategies to effectively counter such drone-based threats in the future.
The committee chaired by ADGP (intelligence) Ashutosh Kumar Sinha include GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen SS Kartikeya, IGAR (South) Maj Gen Ravroop Singh, IG CRPF M&N Sector Vipul Kumar, and DIG SHQ BSF (CI Ops) JK Birdi.
The committee has the authority to coopt technical experts as deemed necessary to aid in the investigation.
The final report is to be submitted to the office of the DGP by September 13 .
Meanwhile, security forces intensified search operations and area domination efforts in the state's hill and valley districts, leading to recovery of weapons and equipment, including a drone, possibly used in Sunday's bombing in Koutruk area, and a large cache of arms and explosives.
According to Manipur Police's post on X, security personnel recovered a drone from Kharam Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi district on Monday.
The presence of the drone underscores growing concerns over the use of advanced technology by militant groups in the region.
The photo of the recovered drone shared by Manipur police has wire hooks which could possibly be used to hang the bomb shells.
In a separate operation at Kangchup Ponlen, Kangpokpi district, security forces recovered 10 12-inch single bore barrel rifles, an improvised mortar, 9 mortar barrels, 20 gelatine sticks, 30 detonators, two country-made rockets, and various other explosive materials.
Additionally, security personnel seized five radio sets, bulletproof harnesses, and a helmet.
