Akaba remembered on 19th death anniversary

The 19th death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba was observed yesterday at his memorial site in Wakha Leima Ching.
The memorial event was jointly organised by Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba (WAMA), Kangleipak, Meetei National Front (MNF) and Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL).
Speaking on the occasion, WAMA president M Naokhomba Meetei said that the memorial event was organised to remember and honour the remarkable contributions made by Chingsubam Akaba who championed the cause for Meetei Mayek and the traditional religion of the Meetei community.
He shared that Akaba, during his lifetime, was focused on promoting the script of Manipur and strengthening the bond between the communities residing in the hills and the valley.
He also mentioned that Akaba played a central role in the formation of MEELAL in 2003 and in introducing Meitei Mayek in school curriculum.
Offering of floral tributes at the statue of Late Chingsubam Akaba was the main highlight of the event.
