BOAT to witness NEZCC jubilee gala

As part of the year-long silver jubilee celebration of North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC), a choreographic presentation of dances of different ethnic groups of the State would be showcased at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) here on February 13 .
The event would be organized jointly by Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur and NEZCC.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, Som Kamei, Director of Art and Culture, stated that the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur has been a member of NEZCC for the last many years.
As such, the Silver Jubilee Celebration of NEZCC would also be celebrated in the State on February 13 as would be done in other parts of NE States.
He explained that the event is to be organized with a view to protect and preserve the folk culture of different ethnic groups.
The event would witness a blend of different dances and songs of various communities presented together.
DR K Sobita, Director, Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, who was also present at the press conference, stated that a team comprising groups of 15 members each from the different communities settling in the State including Tangkhul, Maram, Monsang, Maring, Kom, Kabui, Thadou and Meetei would be participating in the choreographic presentation.
