Choreography on 'Culture for Peace'

A choreographic performance on the theme 'Culture for Peace' would be presented at BOAT at 4.30 pm of February 13 .
The event would be jointly organised by North East Cultural Centre, NEZCC and the Department of Art and Culture.
Speaking to media persons at the conference of Art and Culture Directorate, Palace Compound this afternoon, NEZCC Director Som Kamei said that choreographic performance would see blending of dance and music of the Tangkhuls, Marams, Taraos, Monsangs, Marings, Koms, Kabuis and Meiteis.
The participating artistes are being guided by W Lokendrajit of the Creative Guidelines.
The choreographic presentation is a part of the Folk Dance Yatra which was kick-started since April 13 last year in commemoration of Zonal Cultural Centres' silver jubilee, Som Kamei said.
Art and Culture Director K Sobita said that primary objectives of NEZCC are to preserve, promote and highlight cultures of all the member States.
The choreographic performance is aimed highlighting the idea of unity through rhythmic blending of different cultural dance and music.
All the nine communities which would take part in the choreographic presentation are currently staying together and they have been exchanging and playing indigenous musical instruments of different communities, Sobita conveyed.
