Martyrs' Day observed across Manipur with solemn tributes

District administrations across Manipur - Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Pherzawl, Kakching and Jiribam, joined the rest of the nation in observing Martyrs' Day, paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.
At Kangpokpi, the district administration held a solemn observance led by Sub Deputy Collector (HQ) Papao Touthang.
He paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, recalling his values of truth and non-violence as timeless guides for public life and responsible citizenship.
A minute of silence was observed in memory of the Father of Nation and all freedom fighters.
The solemn tribute was attended by Lunlenmoi Vaiphei SDC-I; Kaikhoseh Kipgen, SDC-II; DLOs, and other officials.
In Kamjong, the observance was held at the Kamjong District Camp Office, 2nd MR Complex, Imphal, where floral tributes were offered.
Deputy Commissioner Luckyson Ngamsha Kashung led the ceremony in the presence of the Superintendent of Police, Kamjong, Rocky Thalu, DLOs and staff of various departments.
The DC highlighted that Martyrs' Day is a reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made for India's sovereignty and called upon citizens to uphold Gandhian ideals of truth, nonviolence and moral courage.
At Pherzawl, the district administration organised the observance at the DC Conference Hall.
Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching led the programme, guiding officials and staff in observing a two-minute silence in honour of Mahatma Gandhi and countless freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country.
Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized that Martyrs' Day stands as a reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by brave men and women to secure India's sovereignty, unity and freedom, and called upon citizens to uphold the values of peace, truth and nonviolence.
Sub-Divisional Offices and government institutions in the district also organised simultaneous programmes to mark the occasion.
In Kakching, the observance was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex, Kakching led by Additional District Magistrate P Shantikumar, along with district-level officers, officials and staff of the District Administration, Kakching.
As part of the observance, a two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of the martyrs who laid down their lives during the struggle for India's freedom.
The day was also marked across various schools in Kakching district under the initiative of the Zonal Education Office, Kakching.
The District Administration of Jiribam also observed Martyrs' Day at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Jiribam, to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and all martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, led the tribute ceremony, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, Th Manoranjan Singh; along with other district-level officers and staff of the DC Office.
A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect and honour to the Father of the Nation and all martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of India's independence.
The day was also observed across various government institutions and offices in the district, including schools and colleges.
