'Ima Lon Kanba Numit' observed

The Manipuri Youths' Front of Assam (MYFA) celebrated "Ima Lon Kanba Numit" at the Ruposwari Community Hall in Cachar's Kamranga today.
Manipuri Youths' Front of Assam (MYFA) president Thangjam Brojen Singha, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi Member Dr KN Chand, Assam Irrigation Department's retired Secretary RK Gopal Sana Singha, retired SBI Bank Manager Shougaijam Subankar Singha, retired Head Master Thongam Babahan Singha, Bir Tikendrajit Memorial Committee (BTMC) Rongpur president Thangjam Tomal Singha, Paona Club, Rongpur Part-I president Khundrakpam Biswajit Singha, Awa Pali Meira Paibi Lup president Ibetombi and Panthoibi Meira Paibi Lup president Bina Singha attended the observance.
At the event, MYFA president Thangjam Brojen Singha said the Ima Lon Kanba Numit is observed commemorating the recognition of the Manipuri language as an Associate Official Language by the Assam Government.
The Manipuri Language was declared as an Associate Official Language in four districts of Assam-Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Hojai in 2024.While the language has been recognised as an Associate Official Language, it has not been "implemented" yet, he said.
MYFA will be pushing for further promotion and "implementation" of the Manipuri language, Brojen said.
