Imphal, July 28 2025: A combined force of Special Operation Team of Senapati police and CRPF personnel arrested a drug peddler along with 20 soap cases of brown sugar last night from Hengbung Checkpost along National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road).

Sources said the police and the personnel of the 78 CRPF and 109 CRPF were conducting frisking and checking of vehicles on Imphal-Dimapur road at Hengbung Checkpost when they noticed one suspicious Hyundai Venue car with Assam registration number.

The security personnel stopped the vehicle and conducted a search.

During the search, the security personnel found 20 soap cases containing brown sugar concealed inside the vehicle.

The personnel seized the brown sugar and the vehicle, and arrested the occupant of the vehicle, identified as Md Siraj Khan (28), son of Md Nahatomba of Moijing Wangmataba Khongmanung in the presence of an Executive Magistrate.

The arrested person along with the seized brown sugar and the vehicle have been handed over to the Senapati police for further legal action under ND&PS Act, sources said.
