Imphal, August 27 2025: State police have hauled up six juveniles, including four girls, for allegedly sharing a video clip of a female student on social media, which reportedly contributed to her suicide on August 22 in Bishnupur.

According to a well placed source, authorities registered a suo moto case after a video of the deceased went viral.

The investigation found that the victim faced blackmail and harassment, which appears to have significantly contributed to her death.

Police rounded up one juvenile directly responsible, along with five other minors involved in circulating the video.

All of them have been placed in a Child Observation Home under the Juvenile Justice Act.

The 15-year-old girl, a Class IX student, was found hanging at her residence at Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai, under the jurisdiction of Moirang Police Station, on August 22 .

A suspicion of foul play was first raised by a Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the incident.
