Kakching, May 27 2026:
Students of Kakching Higher Secondary School on Wednesday intensified their ongoing agitation against the transfer of the school principal by launching an indefinite hunger strike demanding immediate revocation of the transfer order issued on May 21 .
The students have been staging protests, including class boycotts, ever since the transfer order was issued, insisting that the principal should continue in office.
As the protest entered its sixth day, a large number of students came out of the school campus and staged a rally, shouting slogans demanding revocation of the transfer order and urging authorities not to politicise educational institutions.
The protesting students marched towards the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kakching.
However, after learning that the newly transferred DC had not yet assumed charge, the students proceeded towards the office of the ZEO.
The rally was later stopped by a team of Kakching Police near the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP), Kakching, where the students held discussions with the SP .
Following communication with the concerned authorities, a team comprising student representatives along with the SP met the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) and held talks regarding the issue.
According to a student who attended the meeting, the student representatives firmly demanded immediate cancellation of the transfer order and reinstatement of the principal, stating that no alternative proposal or compromise was accepted during the discussion.
After returning to the school campus, the students announced that they would continue the agitation through an indefinite hunger strike until the transfer order is revoked.
