CM inaugurates new ward at RIMS

Imphal, October 26 2018: Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a 56-bedded new ward of Radiotherapy Department of RIMS today.

He also attended a felicitation function organised by RIMS authority on achieving the distinction of the best Chief Minister among NDA-ruled States and the third best CM among the States of the country in a survey conducted under the aegis of India Today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there is nothing greater than human service.

He continued that he joined politics to serve the people and not to earn wealth for himself and his family.

Stating that he became the Chief Minister because of the blessings of the masses, Biren said that he has always been trying to think and do differently to serve people more effectively.

He said that Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang and Chief Minister-gi Sotharabasinggi Tengbang have started helping hundreds of people.

The Chief Minister said that he was happy to learn that around 2400 people had received treatment free of cost in RIMS Hospital alone under the scheme.

With the launching of 'Go to Hills' and 'Go to Village' missions, the State Government has been able to reach out to the people residing at far-flung and interior areas, he said.

On the other hand, helicopter service between Imphal and Jiribam is going on in full swing and the same service from Imphal to Moreh and Tamenglong would also be operational from October 29.Apart from it, Flying Doctors (air ambulance service) would be launched soon, he informed.

The CM further opined that those who are in politics should compete among themselves in giving better service to the people instead of resorting to bullying on petty matters.

The Chief Minister said that many qualified and educated youths had returned to the State to start entrepreneur-ship with the introduction of Manipur Startup.

Imphal Evenings was incepted to convey a message to the world that Manipur is no more a troubled State, he said and added that he was so happy on seeing that people were enjoying the evenings with their families.

Cage culture and Pen culture of fish farming have been introduced at Loktak Lake under Loktak Livelihood Mission by cleaning around 10,000 hectares of unused marshy land.

Apart from it, 1000 fish farmers of different villagers have been identified to help carry out fish farming through scientific method.

They would be provided technical knowhow and soft loans to increase fish production, he said while adding that the State Government has set a target to make Manipur self-reliant in fish production by 2020.The Chief Minister also asked the RIMS authority to draft a memorandum which he can submit to the Union Health Minister when he visits New Delhi on October 29.RIMS Director Prof A Shanta Singh and RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar were the president and guest of the honour of the function.

Manipur Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker K Robindro, Sekinai AC MLA Heikham Dingo, Yaiskul AC MLA Th Satyabrata, RIMS officials and senior doctors and nurses and students also attended the function.

Later, the Chief Minister also interacted with Heads of Departments/Units and officials of RIMS at the conference hall of Jubilee Hall.
