Imphal, September 25 2024:
Secretary to chief minister Ningthoujam Geoffrey has informed the public that possibility of any misadventure by armed groups is remote and public need not worry further on the intelligence inputs shared on September 16 regarding the movement of armed groups.
In an immediate public notice, Geoffrey said that CM office had shared intelligence inputs based on information gathered on movement of armed groups to enable the police department use its machinery and network to develop the said information so as to determine 'actionability' .
It is now ascertained that the possibility of any such misadventure by armed groups is remote and public need not worry further in this regard.
Meanwhile, there are reports about a joint statement by security advisor Kuld-iep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh clarifying that the input about infiltration of 900 trained Kuki militants from Myanmar to carry out attacks on Meeteis, possibly on September 28, has been verified from different quarters in view of reactions from different communities but could not be substantiated on ground.
There is no basis currently to believe in such input but security forces deployed on the ground are placed on high alert to protect lives and properties of citizens.
Assuring all communities of their safety, the joint statement reportedly advised the public not to believe in any rumours or unverified information.
