DMU students mark 2nd death anniversary of Oinam Kenejy, demand justice

Imphal, February 23 2026: Students of Dhanamanjuri (DM) University held a commemoration ceremony today to mark the second death anniversary of Oinam Kenejy, a DM Science student who died in a bomb blast on the university campus in 2024.The event included a march around the DM University area and a gathering at a memorial site.

Mourners offered flowers and paid respects at the memorial for Kenejy, expressing their sorrow over the tragic incident.

The event was attended by members of the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) and other student and women's organisations.

Bruce Pebam, president of AMSU, addressed the gathering, stating that Kenejy was a 5th-semester student at DM Science and also an active member of AMSU when he was killed by the bomb blast.

Another student was also seriously injured in the unfortunate event.

Pebam highlighted the challenges faced by the student union when standing against Government or other entities' wrongdoings, including facing various pressures and threats.

He lamented that it is unfortunate that the perpetrators of the 2024 incident have not yet been brought to justice by the government.

As a resolution from the day of the incident, the union continues to demand that the culprits be identified and arrested soon.

The event also included a student meeting attended by the UMO president Moirangthem Sorojini leima and Progressive Alliance for Leadership & Empowerment of Mothers (PALEM) president Kumabam Jibanmala.
