DBT-BUILDER Facility, Manipur University hosts Lab Tour for college students

The DBT-BUILDER Instrumentation Facility, Manipur University, organised a Laboratory Tour and Exposure Programme for BSc 8th Semester students of Mayai Lambi College on Wednesday.
The programme was held with financial support from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, to provide students first-hand exposure to advanced research facilities and scientific instruments.
During the visit, students were introduced to sophisticated equipment used in biological and interdisciplinary research.
Experts demonstrated the working principles and applications of the instruments, while also highlighting laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and good laboratory practices.
Participants interacted with scientists and technical staff and gained insights into research methodologies, laboratory management, and career prospects in science and research.
The DBT-BUILDER Instrumentation Facility at Canchipur has emerged as a leading centre for advanced research training in the region.
Over the past five years, it has trained more than 950 faculty members, PhD scholars, postgraduate, undergraduate and higher secondary students through workshops and exposure programmes.
The facility is coordinated by Prof GA Shantibala Devi, Prof Ksh Birla Singh, and Prof Th Binoy Singh of the Departments of Zoology and Botany, Manipur University.
Four project staff members oversee its day-to-day operations.
