Medical screening programme for aspiring Agniveer candidates held

Kakching, September 20 2026: A two-day medical screening programme for aspiring Agniveer candidates at Kakching and Phundrei on September 19 and 20, 2026 .

The initiative was designed to support local youths in assessing their medical fitness and enhancing their preparedness for the forthcoming Agniveer recruitment process.

A total of 93 candidates from villages across Kakching district participated in the programme.

They underwent preliminary medical assessments conducted by qualified medical staff, covering general health, physical fitness and medical parameters relevant to recruitment standards, said a press release by the Assam Rifles.

Alongside the screening, individual guidance and counselling sessions were provided, focusing on physical fitness, nutrition, personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices.

Candidates were sensitised on the importance of maintaining medical standards and following a disciplined fitness regimen during their preparation.

The programme enabled participants to identify potential health-related shortcomings at an early stage, giving them the opportunity to take corrective measures and improve their overall readiness for the recruitment process.

The initiative was supported by 28 personnel from Assam Rifles, who facilitated the smooth conduct of the event and ensured effective engagement with the youth.

By combining medical assessment with practical guidance, the programme offered meaningful support to aspiring candidates, while also strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation between Assam Rifles and the community.

The initiative reflected the importance of early preparation and discipline in pursuing a career in the Armed Forces, while encouraging youth to adopt healthier practices for long-term personal development, said the release.
