Imphal, August 20 2025: A Meitei who wandered off to Sapermeina has been safely rescued by police.

A video clip of Yumjao Angom (57) s/o late Tangangjao Angom of Sekmai Makha Leikai sitting among the local people of Sapermeina was widely circulated in social media this morning.

In the video, the locals were seen asking Yumjao Angom how and why he came there and the Meitei man replied that he came to the area in a passenger bus plying between Imphal and Senapati this morning and he was looking for certain medicines.

On seeing the viral video clip, Imphal West District Police coordinated with Kangpokpi District Police and the exact location of Yumjao Angom was traced.

Soon after, a team of Sapermeina police rushed to the spot and took Yumjao Angom in their custody.

Sapermeina police then handed over the wandering man to Sekmai police station at Kanglatongbi, sources said.

Yumjao Angom was handed over to his family in the afternoon.
