Thambal Marik College, Oinam, on Saturday organised a Student Induction Programme (SIP) for newly admitted first-semester students of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at the college's Multipurpose Hall.
The programme, jointly organised by the College Admission Committee and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), aimed to familiarise freshers with the college's teaching and non-teaching staff, introduce them to the academic environment, and create awareness about the guidelines and objectives of NEP 2020 and the FYUP curriculum.
The programme was attended by Principal Dr M Bhubaneshwari Devi, Vice-Principal Tomba Singh, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Convenor of the Planning Committee and Board of Studies N Shyamkesho Singh, IQAC Coordinator and Head of the Department of Zoology M Somorendro Singh, along with heads of various departments and faculty members.
Addressing the students, Principal Dr M Bhubaneshwari Devi said the induction programme was designed to help new students understand the provisions of NEP 2020 and the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme, enabling them to adapt smoothly to the new academic framework and make the most of their college life.
She noted that India's education system has undergone several policy reforms over the years and stressed the importance of familiarising students with the evolving educational landscape.
Such induction programmes, she said, are essential in helping students from different schools understand the new academic guidelines and enjoy a more meaningful and enriching learning experience.
Later, the newly admitted students were taken on a guided tour of the college campus, where faculty members introduced them to the various departments and key academic and infrastructural facilities available at the institution.
