National seminar on Bioresources and Future concludes

Imphal, December 16 2025: A two-day National seminar on "Bioresources and Future" conducted at Bir Tikendrajit University, Canchipur concluded today.

As per a statement, the seminar was organised by the Department of Botany and Zoology, BTU and attended by Professor Hijam Tombi Singh, retd Vice Chancellor of Manipur University as the chief guest; Dr JP Sharma, pro-chancellor as the functional president and Dr Chingakham Brajakishor Singh, State Coordinator, Vibhavani India, Manipur State Chapter; Dr Sinam Yoirentomba Singh, Deputy Director, MSME Technology Centre, Imphal and U Himmat, CEO, Sinsang Research and Development Lab, The Green Foundation, as the guests of honour.

Additionally, several eminent scholars, including Professor GA Shantibala, Professor E Jadu Singh, Professor L Kumar, Professor Th Nabakumar and Professor S Banamali graced the seminar as special delegates.

At the technical sessions, Dr Seram Devika Devi, Organizing Secretary, professors and scientists from prestigious universities and institutions including Manipur University, Central Agricultural University, NEHU, Dhanamanjuri University, AIIMS and BRIC-IBSD presented lectures.

Moreover, researchers from across the State, representing universities and institutes such as CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat; Assam Down Town University; BRIC-IBSD, MU, College of Agriculture, CAU; Government College of Pharmacy, Maharashtra; Cotton University; Patkai Christian College and several other colleges in Manipur registered to participate in the seminar.

A total of 98 abstracts were received from registered participants, with 50 individuals formally registered to attend the seminar.

Additionally, herbal exhibitions featuring a diverse array of indigenous traditional items was another highlight of the seminar.

During the event, a book titled "Geography of Manipur- A Comprehensive Study" written by Professor Th Nabakumar Singh, retd Associate Professor, Imphal College and Professor BTU was released.
