RIMS hosts Graduation Day; announces free hypertension screening camp on May 17

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal celebrated its Graduation Day with pride at Jubilee Hall on Friday, even as it announced a free health check-up and screening camp on May 17 to mark World Hypertension Day 2026 .
Graduation Day marks academic milestone
RIMS Director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, who attended as chief guest, congratulated graduates from medicine.
dentistry, nursing and paramedical disciplines for completing their academic training.
He called RIMS a premier institution and announced plans to expand allied health sciences programmes.
Despite technological advances, he said, empathy and compassion remain irreplaceable in healthcare, urging graduates to uphold integrity and lifelong learning.
Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, said all healthcare professionals share the goal of serving humanity through teamwork and compassionate care.
He reminded graduates that patients remember hope and care more than treatment, and thanked parents for their sacrifices.
The ceremony was also attended by Prof B Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS; Prof Laishram Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics); and Prof A Debjani Devi, Principal, Nursing College and convener of the Reception Committee, along with senior faculty and students.
RIMS admits 125 MBBS students annually and has 625 students on roll.
The institute has produced over 4,100 doctors and 2,600 specialists through 24 postgraduate departments.
Free hypertension camp on May 17
To mark World Hypertension Day 2026 under the theme "Controlling Hypertension Together", RIMS will hold a free screening camp on May 17, from 9:45 am at the General OPD Complex, RIMS Hospital.
Free services will include blood pressure, ECG and blood sugar tests.
Medicines will also be distributed to patients attending the camp.
The institute invited all citizens, particularly senior citizens, to avail of the free services arid participate in the observance.
