Thoubal, May 13 2025: A sit-in protest was staged at Wangbal Maning Leikai in Thoubal district on Tuesday, demanding the unconditional release of Sagolsem Sanatomba, who was arrested by the NIA .

A meira paibi activist who took part in the protest demonstration, said that Sanatomba s/o S Inaoba of Wangbal Maning Leikai, is a civilian and was arrested from his workplace by the NIA on May 11 around 11 am .

While deploring arrest of a civilian, she also termed as baseless charges levelled against him by the NIA .

The meira paibi cautioned of launching intense form of agitation in coordination with other meira paibi organisations and CSOs in case Sanatomba is not released unconditionally.

The protestors used placards and chanted slogans like "We condemn the arrest of village volunteers by NIA", "NIA should withdraw the charges levelled against village volunteers", "Sanatomba should be released unconditionally" and "We condemn arrest of innocent civilians" .
