Consultation programme held in Moirang to strengthen role of women in society

Moirang, December 12 2025:
A consultation programme on "Nupi Lan amadi Houjik Oiriba Saktam", was held today at Ibudhou Loktak Maru Community Hall, Phubala, Bishnpur district, as part of the Nupi Numit observance.
The event aimed at reinforcing the role of women in shaping a united and progressive society.
The programme organised by Meiragi Mangal, Bishnupur witnessed participation from representatives of 55 Nupi Lup, Meira Paibi Lup, various clubs and organisations across Bishnupur district.
Manipur University Retd Professor W Nandakumar moderated the event, while DM College of Arts, Retd Principal Professor Ch Sheelaramani, and Columnist and Writer Mutum Shanti served as panelists.
Indigenous People Organisation Manipur (IPOM) president Advocate Y Devdutta and New Life Foundation, Manipur, secretary Dr Lamabam Pishak also attended as special guests.
Addressing the gathering, Meiragi Mangal, Bishnupur, organisation secretary, Mangsatabam Sundari highlighted the need to recognise the immense resilience and leadership shown by Manipuri women since ancient times.
She urged the public to uphold the ideals of oneness, follow the footsteps of the foremothers and work together for the betterment of Manipur.
She express concern that today moral values among women - particularly in behaviour, dress, and eating habits - are gradually eroding.
She called upon women to reflect on these changes, leave behind divisive tendencies and strive collectively for a united Manipur, raising society to its highest level.
